Powell’s Books, the nation’s top independent bookseller, is looking for a full-time Payroll and Accounting Department Specialist to provide vital reinforcement to full-cycle payroll and high volume A/P and A/R processes.This position will include regular payroll duties as well as acting as a full back up to the Payroll Administrator in processing bi-weekly, multi-location payroll for 500+ employees.The position also includes regular duties in supporting our A/P and A/R departments. Successful candidate must have experience processing payroll for 150+ employees.ADP (PC Payroll and HR Perspective) or equivalent and automated time and attendance system (Kronos, E-Time) experience desired.Solid understanding and experience of employment laws and regulations required. Demonstrated, good working knowledge of accounting principles required.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong commitment to teamwork as well as the ability to work independently required. The successful candidate must encompass immense flexibility to work in an interdepartmental and ever changing environment.
