You are invited to support Paint it Forward, a unique art event that will be held on May 2, 2008 from 6PM to 8PM at Sitton Elementary School in North Portland. This event is designed to provide the students of Sitton with the inspiration, techniques, and supplies to picture their own possibilities through art.
Sitton is currently unable to provide art, music, and theater programs for its students.Since these subjects have an immense impact on the development of self-expression, confidence, and pride in our youth, we are reaching out to local art enthusiasts to help us create an evening for these students in which we can all pass along the gift of creativity.
At the event, local artists will show a piece of their work, which will then be adopted by a student to keep as a source of inspiration.Throughout the evening the students will also have the opportunity to participate in activities led by local art teachers, and they will receive a selection of art supplies to use at home as they continue to explore their artistic potential.
On May 12, 2008, Sitton students will have the opportunity to Paint it Forward by showing a piece of their own work at Roosevelt High School’s art show.
There are a number of ways in which you can contribute to the success of Paint it Forward. You can donate a piece of your work (all mediums welcome) to be shown at the event and given away to a student. You can volunteer to lead an art activity at the event. You can donate new art supplies to send home with the students, or gently used supplies to be used for the art activities at the event. Or... you can do all of the above.
In addition to that warm feeling that will be left in your heart, you will walk away with a charitable donation receipt for your tax deductible art supply donations.Artists can also write off the supplies that they use to create the works that they donate.
