The Oregon Clinical and Translational Research Institute (OCTRI) at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is seeking a senior developer responsible for the development, testing, and deployment of applications and/or modifications to current open source software for both clinical and life sciences domains. Collaborates with research associates on computer applications and information technology that supports the biomedical and clinical research of OCTRI. Must be able to collaborate with informaticists and clinical/basic science researchers. Works closely with the Director of Translational Bioinformatics to coordinate informatics activities among other OHSU centers and Institutes (Portland Alcohol Research Center, OHSU Cancer Institute etc). Required Qualifications: Three years of relevant experience; Bachelors degree or equivalent education and experience in computer science, biomedical informatics, life sciences or bioinformatics from an accredited institution is required, Masters degree is preferred; experience programming in the following languages: PERL, PHP, XHTML, XML, Java, JavaScript, and R; working knowledge of Oracle and MySQL; experience developing database back-end web user interfaces, in informatics and with testing, evaluation and implementation of diverse open source software applications; must be results-oriented with strong analytical skills with the ability to understand data and effectively communicate complex ideas; demonstrated Project management skills; ability to assist on data model development specifically related to functional genomics data and its integration into existing data models; ability to develop and edit technical documentation and SOPs; ability to assist with development of dynamic workflows involving PERL and R for data analysis; sound professional judgment required and ability to maintain confidential information.
